Haute Cuisine by a famous French chef

All Top Chef fans know this famous French chef who has been based in London since 2008. The woman who creates all this magic in the kitchen is simply known as “Chef Darroze”.

In London, Hélène Darroze is exercising her talents at the famous palace “Le Connaught”, and she is not the first famous Frenchwoman to have elected this luxury hotel as a London landmark. Indeed, she was preceded in these places by Charles de Gaulle himself who resided there during the Second World War. So chic isn’t it?

So obviously, you don’t come to Hélène Darroze’s place by chance. It’s a gourmet restaurant in London and the prices are commensurate with the excellent reputation of the place and alas, not within the reach of all purses.

But if you ask us if it’s worth saving? The answer will be Yes, of course. It’s really the kind of small pleasures to be had once in a lifetime, especially since the restaurant can boast two stars in the prestigious Michelin guide.

The interior of the restaurant is elegant and dignified, the atmosphere is upscale and yet very comfortable.

The service staff are also well trained here, which is something worth mentioning these days. But of course, a restaurant of this caliber could not afford anything less than excellent staff.

Tip: Lunch on weekdays is a little cheaper. The weekday lunch menu is 60 pounds. It’s still a large sum, but it’s worth it!

Core - French Haute Cuisine in Notting HillThis high caliber 2-Michelin-Star restaurant in Notting Hill serves French Haute Cuisine dishes that not only please the tongue but also the eye. Core by Clare Smyth is known for it’s outstanding

The Core by Clare Smyth is known for the fact that simply everything fits here. The food is excellent, in the upper price range, you have to say, the service is excellent and shines with really well trained waiters, and the ambience is absolutely to feel good. We would describe it as chic, modern Parisian style, which captivates with simple elegance and high-quality furniture. Yet the place has an unusually relaxed atmosphere, which is exceptional for a restaurant of that class.

The restaurant has a great wine list that might look a bit overwhelming for some, but the waiter will be happy to help and make some recommendations.

Their dishes are a mixture of French, British, European and Contemorary.

Core by Clare Smyth has a full bar with a nice selection of aperitifs or digestifs.

Even in the best restaurant in the world it can happen that something goes wrong and a dish is not quite perfect. In rare cases this can happen here, too. However, Core by Clare Smyth can shine with its excellent service in case of small breakdowns. Gladly there is then a replacement or gifts on the house, as it is appropriate.

Many visitors have already described this restaurant as the best in London, and not only among French restaurants.

Typical French Dishes among others:

Again, we are not dealing with French home cooking, but with French-influenced gourmet creations of modern European haute cuisine. But you find variants of “Foie Gras” or “Pigeon, petit pois à la Francaise” decorated on the plates like little paintings, pure art.

A bit Old School, but Beautiful and Genuine

It used to be St George’s Hospital, opposite Hyde Park and very close to Buckingham. Since 1991, it is a luxury hotel, which has kept the chic of an aristocratic house, with its beautiful furniture, its restored paintings, its beautiful paintings, its museum air brought up to date. Taken over by the Oetker group, which owns, among others, the Brenners in Baden-Baden, the Château Saint-Martin in Vence, the Bristol in Paris, the Eden Roc in Cap d’Antibes, restored with emphasis, the place has undergone a rejuvenation, without losing its old English chic look, renewed in beauty.

The various lounges, bars, rooms, library, are conducive to a smooth break. In the spotlight, the Céleste restaurant, which, in a vast and splendid room under a glass roof, with its stuccoes, earthenware, porcelain and blue tones stamped Wedgwood, offers a refined cuisine with English products and a French touch under the guidance of the wise Florian Favario, a native of Annecy, who was a pupil of Laurent Petit and Marc Veyrat, then Eric Frechon’s assistant at the Bristol. The lunch menu, at £35, is a bargain that allows you to take a trip down the track in homemade delicacies without breaking your piggy bank.

Shortbread tart with parmesan, tomato and black olives, crab salad with fennel with (a little too much) mayonnaise and celery, like a “cocktail crab” revisited, cod with piperade and spicy tomato sauce and hot (a little dry) ham in its pea and monsoon broth give an idea of the Anglo-French style, with a little Mediterranean air of the house. In the same vein, we do not forget the pleasant courgette-flower with tomato, goat’s cheese and black olives.

The choice of wines by the glass is mischievous (mineral riesling Clos Sand de Barmes Buecher, fruity rosso di Montalcino Valdicava) and the desserts (exquisite caramel iced milk, rice pudding, milk jam, mojito sorbet with fresh raspberries and lemon sorbet), signed by the sweet artist Nicolas Rouzaud, are a divine surprise. It is unclear whether the house is competing in the starred category or in the category of chic and gourmet breweries. But, as is, with its French service and complicity, its neat setting, the house seduces without forcing its beautiful nature so typically British.

Welcome to London’s only Opera Restaurant

Bel Canto is one of the most unique restaurants in the United Kingdom.  The restaurant offers fine French cuisine in an intimate and cosy restaurant, which is served by opera-singing waiters!  Opera shows start at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday evenings, and are performed by top trained professional opera singers.

The concept was borne in the late 1990s by Jacques de la Bussiere, a musician and music lover who lost 90% of his hearing from a rare and serious disease.   After having received hearing aids, he realised the potential and beauty of the human voice, and wanted to promote the art of opera.  Alongside his friend, chef Jean-Paul Maurel, he started the Bel Canto, a place where people could savour delicious food while enjoying world-class live opera.

With over 860 5-star ratings, Bel Canto is a must.  Patrons cannot recommend Bel Canto more highly.  Praises pour in for the delicious food, incredible atmosphere, and of course for the magical opera singing.  Many customers comment that the chorus of talented opera singers is nothing short of astounding.  Furthermore, the restaurant offers a personal touch, is professional and warm, and the waiters go out of their way to ensure a great experience is had by all.

Charming Little French Bistro

Chez Elle is a charming restaurant located on Brick Lane, offering traditional French cuisine.  Known as the hidden gem of London, and quinetessentially French, one arrives into a warm and dimly lit narrow space surrounded by giant, iconic Parisian posters, flowers, and birds hanging light fixtures.  Its ambiance makes one feel as if one had been transported to France.

Having received over 300 5-star ratings, Chez Elle knows how to please its customers.  According to patrons, the menu is beautifully simple but well thought through with classic french dishes served on unpretentious mismatched plates.  Favourite dishes include the double baked truffled cheese soufflé, the french onion soup, moules marinieres and parmentier d’aubergine, all delicious and beautifully presented.  As the perfect way to end the meal at Chez Elles, the selected cheese board and creme brûlée with a glass of pineau des charantes go down a treat.

In addition to the food being high quality and flavoursome, it is also good value for money.  The staff are extremely polite, helpful, attentive and knowledgeable.
